Uniform Patrol Division
The Uniform Patrol Division of the Simpsonville Police Department (SPD) is commanded by Captain Mike Hanshaw and Lieutenant Timmie Williams. This division consists of certified Class 1 Law Enforcement Officers. This is the largest and most visible unit of the Police Department to the general public. These are the men and women who are the first to respond to your 911 call for help. Our officers put themselves in harms way every day they are on the job in order to ensure the citizens and visitors in Simpsonville are safe.
The Uniform Patrol Division's primary function is crime prevention, answering calls for service relating to life and death emergencies, rendering aid/assistance to the public, detecting criminal activity and maintaining quality of life standards. The Uniform Patrol Division is divided up into (4) four separate shifts: Alpha Shift, Bravo Shift, Charlie Shift and Delta Shift. Captain Hanshaw and Lt. Williams have direct supervision over the shift supervisors with the rank of Sergeant. Each Sergeant directly supervises the Corporals, who in turn supervise the Patrol Officers and Dispatchers for each shift.
Each shift works a twelve (12) hour rotating shift that changes every 6 weeks between days and nights. The shifts rotate between 7:00am-7:00pm or 7:00pm-7:00am.
