Biography:
I began my career with Laurens County Sheriff's Department. I
was initially hired as a jailer. I went on to the Police Academy and became a Deputy
Sheriff. I worked with the Sheriff's Department for three years. From there I went to
Laurens City Police Department where I worked as a Patrol Officer for two years, before
coming to Simpsonville Police Department in August of 1990. I have been promoted from the
rank of Officer to Captain and finally to the rank of Chief of Police. As a Captain I
oversaw all Patrol Division as well as Investigations. I also preformed other
Administrative Duties. These duties vary from budget development to implementing other
programs.
It was a great honor to be promoted to the rank of Chief of Police on May 23,
2000. It has long been a goal of mine to obtain the rank of Chief. Since being promoted I
have initiated several programs that I am extremely proud of. The program that I am most
proud of is BOOKS AND BADGES. This program puts Police Officers in Schools reading
to our children. It also teaches them about safety. I think it's very important that all
children learn to read and receive an education. Another program that I have implemented
is the BICYCLE PATROL. This is also a first for Simpsonville. The Bicycle Patrol
allows Officers to interact closely with our citizens. It also allows Officers access to
areas not easily obtained in a marked Patrol Car. This program allows our citizens to
become more familiar with our Officers.
