Hello, my name is Mike Thomas and I am the School Resource Officer (SRO) for Hillcrest Middle School.  I was assigned to this position in October of 2001. I have worked with the Simpsonville Police Department since August of 1998.    Prior to being assigned as a SRO I worked in the Uniformed Patrol Division of the police department and I am a Certified Police Instructor through the SC Criminal Justice Academy. 

I am a former Hillcrest Middle School student and a graduate of Mauldin High School.  Being a former Hillcrest Middle student is an asset because there are a lot of familiar faces in the staff.  This has made my transition from Uniformed Patrol to School Resource much easier.

As the SRO for Hillcrest Middle I strive to provide a safe environment for students to learn and teachers to teach.  I enjoy the other roles I have as a friend and counselor to the students and staff.  I like the idea of being a positive influence to those who need one.  One goal that I have as a SRO is to re-establish the trust and confidence between law enforcement officers and young people.  I look forward to the coming school years and to the positive connections I will make with everyone.
