My name is Jonathan Edwards and I’m one of the two School Resource Officers at Hillcrest High School.  I began my career in law enforcement in March of 2007 when I was hired on as a Uniform Patrol Officer with the City of Simpsonville.  I was born in Chesterfield, SC then moved to Florence when I was about 3 years old.  My dad became a pastor so we have moved around a good bit.  I have lived in Seneca, Beaufort, and Lake City where I attended high school and graduated from in 2002.  I currently live in Pelzer and attended Greenville Technical College where I graduated with a Certificate in Forensic Science and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2005.

            I actually volunteered for the job as an SRO in hopes of making a difference in the lives of the students.  I feel that I can relate to the youth in a way that they would feel comfortable with.  My goal as an SRO is to earn the students trust and respect, to make them feel comfortable to come and talk to me about problems that they may have, be able to assist them in any way, and educate them about the law and other aspects of life, but at the same time keep them interested in learning.  Most importantly I want to be a friend to them and be someone that they can confide in.

Hopefully this job will encourage me to do other things in my career in law enforcement and be will be an enjoyable experience in my life.  I’ve always enjoyed working with children and young adults and look forward to working with your child as well.  If you have any questions please contact me via email or by phone, both of which are listed below.
